To: Members of GFWC Southern Region and Guest
I am delighted to issue your official CALL to the GFWC Southern Region Annual Meeting to be
held October 29 – 31, 2010, in Huntsville, Alabama. I encourage you to plan now and attend
this very important GFWC meeting!
GFWC State Presidents will also issue this CALL to their membership. It is important that all
members receive this invitation to attend our Annual Meeting so feel free to share this with all
GFWC members in our GFWC Southern Region.
In addition to exceptional speakers and guests, the agenda includes a number of activities
designed to give clubwomen new and up-to-date perspectives on timely topics. A “new
member” membership session will be presented Friday afternoon for those members with one
to three years experience that will provide a strong foundation for growth. Exciting details of our
new GFWC Community Service Programs will help all members engage in volunteerism as a
higher level! Other areas of emphasis include project planning, leadership development,
fundraising, the GFWC Signature Project: Domestic Violence Awareness, the GFWC Junior
Project: Advocates for Children, report writing, women’s health, LEADs presentation, report of
the states, and much, much more! A great time is promised on the Friday tour of the Huntsville
Historic District that includes a fun shopping opportunity.
GFWC members are invited to participate in a GFWC Southern Region Service Project to
support domestic violence shelters. Our “GFWC Wear One – Share One Pajama Party” will
have members attending our Friday night Pajama Party in their favorite PJs for fun and
fellowship after the banquet. Be sure to bring a new pair of ladies or children’s pajamas to
donate for local shelters. What a fun way to help others!
Dress for various events will include: Thursday Board Dinner – Casual Dress; Friday Tour –
GFWC Apparel; Friday Banquet – Cocktail/Formal; Saturday – Business Casual (Wear Red);
Saturday Banquet – Formal; Sunday – GFWC Apparel for traveling home.
GFWC International President Carlene Garner and President Elect Mary Ellen Laister, along
clubwomen from all over Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and South Carolina will join
you in great learning opportunities, shopping with vendors, and fun that features local points of
interest in the historic city of Huntsville and the Space and Rocket Center! You will not want to
miss one minute of the conference planned by GFWC Alabama especially for you!
We look forward to seeing you in Huntsville for an informative and fun GFWC Southern Region
meeting!
