GFWC Southern Region Conference

The Southern Region Conference in Huntsville, AL was filled with learning, networking and sisterhood!  A big thank you to GFWC Southern Region President Laurie O'Kelly, GFWC Alabama President Becky Vansant, and to all who worked so hard to make the weekend so successful. We were delighted to welcome our special guests, GFWC International President Suellen Brazil and GFWC President-elect Wendy Carriker.  

We heard informative reports and participated in hands-on learning. Members generously supported the National Children's Advocacy Center by contributing to their Sock Drive and Stuff the Diaper Bags project; they supported the GFWC Survivors Success Scholarship on the International Day of Service, and contributed to many GFWC annual giving opportunities, including the important headquarters facade restoration campaign.

The newly elected 2026-2028 officers are President Tammie McCoy (MS), Vice President Shari Carter (GA), Secretary Roberta Atkinson (AL) and Treasurer Sharon Oliphant (FL).  

Five Jennie award nominees were celebrated -- Cynthia Geis (AL), Kay Taylor (FL), Martha Ann Saunders (GA), Nancy Smith Griffin (MS) and Bobbie Sox (SC).  Kay Taylor and Martha Ann Saunders will represent GFWC Southern Region at the International level. Congratulations!
